Kathy Griffin - Kathy Griffin Strips To Underwear On Cnn's New Year Broadcast

The comedian Kathy Griffin is used to courting controversy and her appearance on the Cnn channel's New Year broadcast in Times Square yesterday (December 31, 2011) was no different. During her presenting duties with the show's co-host Anderson Cooper, Griffin waited for the camera to cut away to shots of the Swarovski crystal ball and the New Year's revellers enjoying their night out, and quickly stripped down to bra and knickers.

The unexpected move startled Cooper, according to a report from New York Daily News, who giggled and responded by saying "Are you freaking kidding me?" before waving a 'no nudity' sign in Kathy Griffin's face. Anderson Cooper's crew tried in vain to cover up the outspoken comedian, but to no avail. She tried to goad Cooper into joining in with the strip by saying "You're a big square who won't let me have any fun. Your turn!" Anderson refused to join in and remained fully clothed.

Kathy Griffin recently upset the Kardashian family with her Tired Hooker stand-up show, in which she joked about Kim Kardashian's short-lived marriage with Kris Humphries. She went on to mock other members of the Kardashian family, including Kim's mother Kris Jenner. Another celebrity to fall foul of Griffin's no-nonsense comedy was Ashton Kutcher, who was recently discovered to have cheated on his wife DEMI MOORE.
